Crocoite is a lead chromate mineral with the chemical formula- PbCrO4. One of the most prominent mines for Crocoite is the Adelaide Mine in Tasmania. Crocoite is formed through the alteration of Serpentine, Stichtite and Galena, releasing lead and chromium into solution. The resulting metal rich fluids crystallised as Crocoite in this unique geologic environment. Other notable locations for Crocoite are Ural Mountains, Russia and Inyo and Riverside Counties in California.
